Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius

A feature-length version of the terrific animated TV series, this was in fact intended as a pilot episode to launch the show on TV, but executives thought it was so good they released it in cinemas first. The title says it all – Jimmy Neutron is a boy genius, forever inventing funky little gizmos to amuse himself and his friends (and viewers, as the contraptions usually work only occasionally). However, in this adventure he may need all of them to save the world after aliens abduct all the adults from his home town of Retroville.

Like the subsequent series, this is funny and fast-paced stuff that should delight younger viewers. It doesn’t have as many grown-up references as we’ve come to expect from animated movies, but there are tons of gags, inventive moments and a huge helping of energetic fun that should amuse even the most jaded of audiences.
