Jurassic Park III

(2001)
Jurassic Park III

Starring Sam Neill, William H Macy, Tea Leoni. (PG)

Steven Spielberg, who directed Jurassic Park and its sequel, handed the camera over to Joe Johnston (who had helmed episodes of the Spielberg-produced Young Indiana Jones Chronicles) for this third adventure. It’s eight years since he escaped Jurassic Park, but Dr Alan Grant (Neill) is convinced to return by businessman Paul Kirby (Macy) in return for a large donation to Grant’s research project. What he doesn’t know is that Kirby’s son Eric has disappeared on the island, and he and his wife (Leoni) need Grant’s help to find him.

With a few other potential dinosaur-fodder characters in tow (including Alessandro Nivola as Grant’s assistant), this is another romp in monster land, with the added tension of some scary new creatures and Grant’s idea-coming-true that the raptors have developed intelligence, making them even more deadly. The first movie is still the best, but this is a fair romp for fans of the series.

SCARY MOMENTS:

The scene on the rope bridge is the scariest here, but parents should note the whole film is packed with dinosaur attacks and scenes of peril. Over 9s only.
