Back To The Future Part III

(1990)
Back To The Future Part III

Starring Michael J Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson. (PG)

A return to a simpler, more comedic format for the third Back to the Future movie. Carrying on from where Part II left off, with (don’t read this bit if you haven’t seen BTTF II yet) Doc stuck in 1885. Marty travels back to rescue him, only to find that Doc quite likes life in the Old West (he’s even found a lady friend, played by Mary Steenburgen). Unfortunately, he also discovers Doc may die at the hands of a gunman, who just happens to be related to Biff Tannen, Marty’s adversary in 1955 and 1985.

A rousing mix of Wild West fun, comedy and the sci-fi time-travelling adventure from the previous two films, this was a terrific end to a well-written, brilliantly played trilogy. Fox and Lloyd are once again superb, while Steenburgen makes a nice addition to the cast (and nice to see old Doc getting a romantic interest at last!).
