Stuart Little 2

(2002)
Stuart Little 2

Starring Jonathan Lipnicki, Hugh Laurie, Geena Davis and the voice of Michael J Fox. (U)

A follow-up to the hit Stuart Little, this has all the cast (human and otherwise) returning, plus a few additions – the Littles have a new family member, baby Martha, so Stuart the mouse (voiced by Fox) is feeling left out, especially as big brother George (Lipnicki) has a new school pal, too. So when an injured bird named Margalo (voiced by Melanie Griffith) lands in his toy car, Stuart decides she’s his new best friend. Unfortunately for Stuart, she’s then snatched by the evil Falcon (menacingly spoken by James Woods), so the little mouse, with reluctant cat pal Snowbell (voiced by Nathan Lane) in tow, heads off to rescue her.

A hugely enjoyable family film that’s as good – if not better – than the original, this is a colourful adventure, packed with jokes, action and fun and, of course, a show-stopping performance once again from Lane (‘Oh, oh! Hairball! Major hairball! And yet we continue to lick ourselves. Unbelievable!’).

SCARY MOMENTS:

Very small children will be scared by Falcon, especially in a climactic scene when he swoops down and attacks Stuart, who is flying in a toy plane.
