BMX Bandits

(1983)
BMX Bandits

Starring David Argue, John Ley, Nicole Kidman. (PG)

An Australian adventure – featuring a sixteen-year-old Nicole Kidman in one of her earliest roles – BMX Bandits was released in the eighties when BMX bikes were at the height of their popularity. And, er, now they’re not. That wouldn’t be too much of a problem if there was a decent plot to speak of, but unfortunately the one that there is (kids uncover hidden walkie-talkies and decide to sell them to buy BMX bikes, bad guys want the dated gizmos too) is weak and only serves as an excuse for lots of scenes of kids racing around on their (you guessed it) BMX bikes.

Grown-ups may watch for five minutes just to see young Nicole, while the only boys who will be interested are those with a serious bicycle obsession – and surely they’ll be out on their bikes and not indoors watching this?
